Why is a physical button better than just using a smartphone app?
In high-stress situations, unlocking a phone, navigating to an app, and finding a digital button is too slow and requires too much visual focus. A physical Flic button provides "eyes-free" activation. It is tactile, can be reached by muscle memory, and allows a worker to keep their eyes on a potential threat while triggering a discreet alert.
How does the system determine a worker’s location during an emergency?
When a button is pressed, the system captures the GPS coordinates of the paired smartphone or the fixed location of the Flic Hub. For indoor environments like hotels or warehouses, we recommend using a network of Flic Hubs to provide more granular, room-level accuracy where GPS signals may be weak.
How does the button stay connected to the worker's device?
The button uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). It stays paired to a worker’s smartphone (via the Flic App) or a Flic Hub in a fixed location. If a button ever loses its connection, the worker can be notified through the app, and managers can monitor the "health" of all devices via the Flic Device Manager.
What happens if the worker’s phone battery dies or the internet goes down?
The Flic button relies on the paired device’s connectivity. If a phone is off or has no data connection, the alert cannot be transmitted. However, our system includes heart-beat monitoring to alert managers if a device goes offline, and we recommend using Flic Hubs with Ethernet or Cellular failover for critical stationary environments.
Is the staff being tracked at all times?

Yes. For bulk business orders, we offer custom branding. You can choose between different colors (typically black or white) and have your company logo or a specific "SOS" icon printed directly on the button to make its purpose clear to staff.
