How Flic is making it Matter
Controllers vs Bridges

Matter controllers manage your smart home devices that support Matter; using the universal Matter protocol, requiring continuous power and network connection. Other Matter controllers in the market are Apple HomePod, Google Nest Hub, Samsung SmartThings Hub or Amazon Alexa Echo Hub.

Matter bridges translate the language of non-Matter devices, such as Philips Hue bulbs or Aqara sensors, enabling them to integrate seamlessly into a Matter-enabled ecosystem.

The Flic Hubs have been updated to support Matter. Meaning that your Flic buttons & Flic Twists will automatically support all enabled Matter-devices, too. It will make ANY Matter device controllable with a push of a button, or using Advanced Dimming of the Twist by assigning actions to specific points on the dial.

Questions and answers

1. Does Flic's Matter integration mean it will support Thread devices?
To control Thread devices, you'll need a border router, such as a Homepod. Unfortunately, Thread technology cannot be directly developed into our Flic Hub.
2. Will Flic's Matter compatibility enable HomeKit support for the Twist?
While the Twist won't work directly with HomeKit, it can control Matter-compatible devices, including lights. If the device you're controlling currently through HomeKit is Matter-enabled, you can bypass the need for HomeKit and use Twist.
3. Do I need a Flic Hub to connect my devices via Matter?

4. Do you plan to construct a Matter bridge in the future?
At this moment, we don’t have any updates on this.
5. Is it possible to control other Matter controllers, like Apple Home or Google Home?
Flic's compatibility with other Matter controllers like Apple Home or Google Home is limited because we are developing a Matter controller ourselves. 6. Will I be able to control the volume of devices other than Sonos when Matter is implemented?
