Sustainability is about the choices we make every day. For more than 10 years, we have been taking small but impactful steps to integrate eco-friendly practices into every aspect of our operations and now we have made a choice to take another long stride towards our goal. We are excited to introduce our FSC-certified 100% recycled paper-based packaging, a significant advancement in our mission to eliminate single-use plastics and embrace sustainable materials.
This breakthrough in our packaging line was recently unveiled at the Matter launch during IFA Berlin, where visitors to our booth had the chance to interact with the new packaging firsthand. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with attendees appreciating not only our products but also the sustainable, eco-friendly message communicated through the packaging.
Why FSC-Certified 100% Recycled Paper-Based Packaging?
Our new packaging is crafted entirely from FSC-certified paper, ensuring that the materials come from responsibly managed forests. This certification supports biodiversity and ethical forestry, aligning with our commitment to responsible sourcing. Furthermore, by using 100% recycled paper, we are reinforcing a circular economy approach, ensuring that no virgin materials are consumed in the creation of our packaging.
The dual advantages of being both FSC-certified and 100% recycled highlight the sustainability of our packaging, contributing to environmental preservation while delivering an impactful brand message.
Universal Box Design: Sustainability Meets Efficiency
One of the standout features of our new packaging is its universal design, which can be adapted for most of our product bundles through customizable inlay cuttings. This design reduces the need for multiple packaging formats, simplifying logistics, reducing production materials, and minimizing waste. By optimizing material usage, we ensure that our packaging is not only eco-friendly but also efficient.
The combination of sustainability and brand cohesion that this universal box offers strengthens our brand identity while keeping our environmental footprint as low as possible.
Overcoming Challenges with Sustainable Innovation
Developing 100% paper-based packaging came with its challenges. From finding alternatives to traditional plastic-based components like sealing stickers to maintaining the structural integrity of the box, we had to rethink every element of the design. We addressed these challenges by introducing paper-based sealing stickers, which are fully recyclable, and designing the box using a single paper layer to reduce material consumption.
In addition, we consciously avoided plastic-based coatings that are typically used to give packaging a polished finish. Instead, we opted for an organic, uncoated paper texture with a water-based varnish, maintaining durability while staying true to our eco-friendly goals. Using a single type of material without coatings not only reduces complexity but also makes the packaging easier to sort and recycle at the end of its life, enhancing its recyclability.
Minimalist Design with Maximum Impact
The packaging design follows a minimalist approach, we took a decision to avoid color-heavy, dye-intensive printing processes. Instead, we opted for a subtle two-color print, using 20% soy-based ink. This not only aligns with our values of simplicity and sustainability but also reduces environmental impact during production.
By avoiding intricate printing and excessive use of dyes, we’ve created a design that highlights our values while minimizing our carbon footprint.
As Apoorv Mukati, our Product and Sustainability Manager, explains, “Our packaging is more than just a tool for product protection—it’s an extension of our brand and values. The first thing a customer experiences is the packaging, and it must convey our commitment to sustainability from the moment they touch it.”
Rolling Out Our New Packaging: What’s Next?
We’re proud to have launched our new FSC-certified 100% recycled paper-based packaging and we are currently rolling it out across our retail portfolio. Our next step is to extend this eco-conscious design to our e-commerce packaging as well. This move will eventually make our entire packaging portfolio fully sustainable, aligning with our long-term goal of eliminating plastic from the supply chain.
Join Us on Our Journey
The launch of our FSC-certified 100% recycled paper-based packaging is an important milestone, but it’s just the beginning of what we hope to achieve. We remain committed to pushing boundaries and innovating with eco-friendly materials, and we invite our customers to join us on this journey toward a more sustainable future.
Together, we can make a difference—one package at a time.
